sorry guys- logged on a friend's computer earlier...
no real luck yesterday- not much of note in the first three days of the week, but let's try to bring in some prices today.
r1: i want to find a way to beat right proof. he figures to go off favored and he just broke his maiden a few weeks ago, in desperate fashion while drifting out. at 7/5 or so, i'm looking for the right horse to beat him. unfortunately, this is a very very weak nw1x, so i will back long fused sharp boi. 'boi will give up a huge tactical edge to 'proof as he has no speed, but he's in good form and exits a live race with both vacamonte and sequoian coming back to run well last weekend.
r2: tarlow. key question: can we beat uppity kitty who run second to a very nice horse in his debut, halfbridled. the track had a rally-wide bias that day, but 'kitty had a dream trip behind dueling leaders- she inherited the lead, but was no match for halfbridled. well, i'm going to hope shirreffs has tarlow cranked up for his first start. this one cost 275k, a very high price for a stormin' fever colt and his works have been solid.
r3: hemet thought. i know, because of the pace in this race, it is screaming to be won from off the pace as bunch of these figure to show early gas. hemet thought has shown a lot of versatility in his career, winning from both on and off the pace. i'm sure patrick will secure good position with this one and he should get the perfect trip behind four or five of these all dueling for the lead.
r5: con quixote. ok, there's a ton of early speed signed on here as well. luis jauregui has won one of these 5f turf sprint already, so i'm hoping he send 'quixote out of there to establish good position before making a move on the turn. first time turf, first time blinkers and first time jauregui spells big big price and while this one is not the most likely winner, he has more than a puncher's chance.
r8: senor swinger. not sure if this one will get overbet or will drift up because of the poor past performance, but senor swinger is a big time turf horse. there's enough speed in here to set up his late run and i really only worry about the regally-bred minister's wild cat. this son of hollywood wildcat (multiple G1s) and half brother to BC Mile hero, War Chant, makes his turf debut and i'm certain he'll fire big today. looks like a two horse race to me.
good luck.
